Who Must File

The City of Newton Falls requires all residents age 18 and older to file an income tax return, regardless of whether or not tax is due. A copy of your Federal 1040 is required for filing verification in order to complete your City Taxes.

The City of Newton Falls has contracted with the Regional Income Tax Agency, commonly known as RITA, to collected the city income tax effective January 1, 2018. RITA forms must be used to file and pay the tax due for the City of Newton Falls. Any forms and payments should be electronically filed or mailed directly to RITA.

If you are 18 years of age or older and reside in Newton Falls during any portion of the tax year, you are required to file an income tax return whether or not tax is due.
