Newton Falls Trick or Treat

October 31, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm

The Village of Newton Falls hereby issues these official trick or treat guidelines in conjunction with the City Manager/Director of Public Safety office and The Office of the Chief of Police for Newton Falls:

Trick-or-treating in Newton Falls will occur on Saturday, October 31, 2020 from 2 PM until 4 PM. Children with their families are encouraged to go trick-or-treating in a normal fashion during these hours with the added recommendation that masking and social distancing occur wherever practical. Homeowners are recommended to place a table in the front of their homes with wrapped manufactured candy placed on the table individually with distance between pieces of candy. The homeowner is then asked to remain inside the screen door so they can watch our little ones enjoy the candy and so that the homeowners can get a good look at all the wonderful costumes. The homeowner should certainly replenish the table as the table supply is exhausted. Non-participating homeowners should turn off their porch light to signal that they are not involved this year. These guidelines are consistent with the Halloween directives recently issued by the Ohio Department of Health.

In addition, once the trick-or-treaters arrive home, the New England Journal of Medicine recommends separating the candy and allowing the candy to remain in the wrappers for a 24 hour period in order to make sure that Covid germs have an opportunity to die off during this waiting period.

Last year’s Halloween was especially safe because trick-or-treating occurred during these afternoon hours and henceforward we would expect that Halloween will continue to be celebrated between 2 and 4 PM on a Saturday proximate to the date of October 31. Have a safe and blessed Halloween.
