The Position – The Income Tax Administrator is
a full-time, hourly working supervisor’s position, appointed by the City
Manager and works under the direct supervision of the Finance Director. This
position heads the Income Tax Division of the Finance Department and is
responsible for:
- Billing, collection &
posting of the City’s municipal income tax;
- Maintaining accurate &
complete records of taxes owed and payments received;
- Posting daily receipts to
proper accounts;
- Preparing & running
reports/forms;
- Balancing all receipts and
the cash box daily;
- Preparing bank deposit slips
& makes bank deposits;
- Issuing a "cash
report" to the Director of Finance;
- Accepting & receiving
income tax payments, over-the-counter and/or by mail;
- Maintaining office files
& performing routine office work, as required or directed;
- Identifying delinquent
accounts & directing proceedings to secure payment;
- Generating and mailing out
all tax-related forms & notices;
- Assisting taxpayers in filing
municipal returns;
- Assisting in the development
of the City’s annual budget.
The Current Income Tax
Administrator –
Barbara Marsh started full-time for the City of Newton Falls in April of
1978. Barbara has nearly 24 years of part-time and full-time public service
with the City of Newton Falls. She and her husband Larry reside in
Southington and have three children.
