The Position –
The Newton Falls City Manager is
appointed by City Council to serve as the City’s administrative head. The
City Manager is responsible for:
- appointing,
supervising, suspending & removing all of the officers & employees of the
City that are under the Manager’s jurisdiction, in accordance with the
law;
- assuring that all
City contracts & ordinances and the laws of the State of Ohio are
enforced;
- making
recommendations to Council concerning the affairs of the City;
- keeping Council
advised of the City’s financial condition and future needs;
- submitting an
annual report and such other reports as required by Council;
- issuing all
licenses and permits pursuant to ordinance; and
- performing all
other duties as may be prescribed for the Manager by the Charter or
directed by Council.
The City Manager is required by the
Charter to reside within the City’s corporate limits. The Manager’s salary
is fixed by City Council. The Manager is entitled to sit with Council and
all of the City’s boards & commissions, except the Civil Service Commission
and Charter Review Commission, and to take part in any discussion, but shall
have no vote.
